At the intersection of still life and portraiture, "Open Door" aims to explore the identities of 8 women through their personal space & belongings.
Inspired by the intimate, atmospheric, and surrealist style of Petra Collins, everyday objects are transformed into altar-like formations, paying homage to the divinity, uniqueness, and resiliency of each woman and their experiences. Even in physical absence, their presence is embodied by existential artifacts.
In an increasingly complex world, how will belongings play a role in preserving modern legacies?
In May 2022, this body was displayed at the "Gap Ladies Show" at The Gap Gallery in Charleston, SC.
